Grimass is a lyricist/rapper/singer/actor/entertainer. Understanding the origin and definition of the actual word Grimas is understanding the artist Grimass and why he chose this as his artist name. The name GRIMAS is French/Creole for the word Grimace. The Merriam-Webster's Dictionary defines it as; an ugly, twisted expression on a person's face, typically expressing disgust, pain, or wry amusement. Born and raised in Little Haiti, Florida to Haitian parents, Grimass and his family would later move to North Miami, FL. It is in North Miami he’d develop and plant his roots as a respected & well-known lyricist. #KingOfWordPlay is what his manager recently nicknamed him. His strategic use of words and metaphors are lyrical plays in which fans will consistently return to him on occasions stating that they just recently understood or caught what was being said in one way, or many other ways.

Realizing and understanding his talents was one thing, learning and understanding how to survive the streets was another. Growing up in the projects Grimass was exposed to a lot negativity at an early age. He watched and observed as many of his peers and family members engaged in illegal activities. It was only a matter of time before he too would participate within that element. While not proud of his past involvements, it was a “means to an end.” Grimass was lucky enough that he never suffered any negative repercussions for his actions. Thus, Grimass was able to make a transition from the knowledge he acquired from the streets into the classroom. His past ties to the streets prepared him to go through the course of college, a course that was filled with intimidation and doubt. He went through discouraging times. At times these were the results of negative words from his college professors who would say things like; “You’re in way over your head, your kind doesn't graduate let alone make it here This place isn't for you. Take a look around you, you’re outnumbered.” Yet with family, faith, and hard work Grimass was able to do just that, earn a college degree (a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from FIU.)

Grimass was originally part of a group with his cousin Young Rage. The inseparable duo collaborated on their first big project which was a fight song for the FIU [Florida International University] Panthers football team. It was a project initiated by their their manager CP (Claude Phanor) shortly after he discovered them. Claude is also a graduate of FIU. As for the song, it was well received by the head coach, players, team, administration including the president. They were invited to perform the song at the school’s first ever bowl appearance and win in Detroit back in 2010. Tragedy struck a year later when Young Rage passed away in motorcycle accident.

In 2013 Grimass and his manager CP connected with Gavin Findlay (better known as Shi.) A veteran in the music industry. Together with CP Shi created Dynasty Management Group, LLC. Just as with Grimass’ first connection with CP this one with Shi gave birth to another major project - A single entitled “I’m That Boy” featuring August Alsina.

103.5 The Beat (in Miami) is the station that first broke the single. The single is available on Itunes and various other music platforms. As Grimass would say “just google me G - R - I - M - A - S - S, forget it’s two S’s. Do that and you’ll see that I’m the only thing that pops up on any search engine.” As for the single, it simply displays as he would like to say “another dimension to Mass. The minute you think I’m just hardcore hip/hop, I flip it on you. If it’s wordplay you want I can play the entire field. “For ladies if it’s poetry you need, I can make you think, want, feel and have you reaching into the depths of your thoughts eliciting all and any type of emotions. ” It is a gift.

Fast Forward to year, 2023. Grimass connected with veteran producer DJ Rad of Triple Beam Team / Head Rush Tunes Productions. Rad best known for his work on 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Trying Album, and a body of work from Guru, Group Home, Mr. Cheeks. Together they have created a inhouse production relationship. Along with the help of CP. Grimass has connected with PME Global to help with marketing and promotions of Grimass projects.
.
Grimass prides himself on being able to adapt to anything, whether it be his writing skills, acting, etc. Grimass writes ALL of his music. "Give me a beat, any beat, even a classical beat, I'll write to it! I live for this! I breathe, eat and sleep music. I am music. It's the blood in my veins. I live for this s###!" His past experiences are what molded him into the genuinely tough yet clever individual he is today. It has enabled him to view life from both sides of the fence. There is a lot to be said, and he is able to genuinely express it through his music.
